If you love your Kubota L2501 tractor as much as I do, then you know keeping it running smooth requires the right maintenance. Here’s a quick and easy list to some common maintenance parts you’ll need, the interval window, and part numbers for OEM or some great aftermarket options. Some of the aftermarket options have been reviewed by other sources as having higher performance than OEM, so I recommend using those instead. Let’s dive in!

Kubota L2501 tractor with front loader and backhoe

Load Points Grease (Add Every Use)

Requires any NLGI-2 grease. Moly is optional for load points, but required for high speed/spinning joints. The following list is only for load points:

Engine Oil & Filter (Change Every 200 Hours or Annually)

Engine Oil: 6 quarts (1.5 gallons) of 15w40 or 10w40. Recommend using 10w-40 for colder weather (14F or below) and 15w-40 for warmer seasons. The 10w will flow better while cold, whereas the 15w will give better oil stability.

Engine Oil Filter

Hydraulic Oil & Filter (Change Every 400 Hours)

Hydraulic Oil: The HST and hydraulics take a total of 6.2 gallons of oil. Use only OEM! Other oils appear to cause issues for owners with HST.

Air Filter (Change Every 200 Hours)

Fuel Filter (Change Every 200 Hours)

Hydrostat HST Filter (Change Every 200 Hours)

Complete Filter Kit

If you prefer to get everything in one go, check out the Kubota L2501 H HST Tractor Filter Kit. It includes all the filters you need, often from Baldwin, Donaldson, and Wix.

Fan Belt

The fan belt should be checked and tightened every 100 hours, but typically requires replacement every 5 years due to hardening and rot.

Tire Pressure

Make sure to check and maintain the recommended tire pressures for your specific tires. Proper tire pressure ensures optimal performance and longevity of your tractor. If front weights or the front loader is installed and going to be filled to capacity, recommend filling the front tires up to their maximum rated on the sidewall.

Rear Tires

  • 11.2-24, 4PR: 100 kPa (1.0 kgf/cm², 14 psi)
  • 13.6-16, 4PR: 100 kPa (1.0 kgf/cm², 14 psi)
  • 15-19.5, 6PR: 210 kPa (2.1 kgf/cm², 30 psi)

Front Tires

  • 5.00-15, 4PR: 220 kPa (2.2 kgf/cm², 32 psi)
  • 7.2-16, 6PR: 180 kPa (1.8 kgf/cm², 26 psi)
  • 23 x 8.50-12, 4PR: 160 kPa (1.6 kgf/cm², 23 psi)
  • 25 x 8.50-14, 6PR: 160 kPa (1.6 kgf/cm², 23 psi)
  • 27 x 8.50-15, 6PR: 210 kPa (2.1 kgf/cm², 30 psi)

That’s it, folks! Keep these parts in mind, and your Kubota L2501 will keep purrin’ like a kitten. Happy tractoring!
